Acting Aklan provincial Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) director Maria Carmen Iturralde urged the tourists in Boracay Island to support “green products.”

Green products available in the island are coconut shell items and abaca twines, among others as some “ecopreneurs” start using environment-related products for their businesses.

“Tourists patronizing green products not only help entrepreneurs earn a living but also helps in the sustainability of the environment,” she said.

Iturralde confidently added that the “green products” being sold by local entrepreneurs are high-quality.

The 17th Aklan Product Expo, also named as “Go Green” was recently organized by the “ecopreneurs” as a regional fair in Iloilo City.

Among those high-demand “green products” were coconut shell items, abaca twines, processed food, and wearable items.

“The cash sales amounted to P1.07 million, booked sales at P7.4 million, orders under negotiation at P182,000 with the combined sales of P8.54 million,” Iturralde said.  (RJ Espartinez)
