The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has added 550 more buses in the EDSA Busway route.
DOTr Undersecretary Mark Pastor said in a public briefing that the transportation department is aiming to add new units amid the increased number of passengers during the “ber” months.
“Nasa 550 authorized units ang deployed po sa EDSA Busway. May 100 additional rescue units pa tayo. Ito ay tinitingnan natin kung dadagdagan pa po natin lalo na itong ber months,” he said.
The EDSA Busway had only 500 units before.
The DOTr is also looking at creating more stations in places with a heavy number of passengers, which includes Kamuning, Guadalupe, and Monumento.
The government has been providing free rides on EDSA Busway under the Libreng Sakay program. It is set to end on December 31, 2022.
