The Philippines reported 12,674 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 853,209.

Amid the spike, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that three Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

With this, the current active Covid-19 cases in the country is now at 190,245, this year’s highest record. 

Among the numbers: 97.2% are mild, 1.7% are asymptomatic, 0.5% are severe, and 0.4% are in critical condition.

Death toll rose to 14,744 with 225 new fatalities.

Meanwhile, recoveries moved to 648,220 with 593 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness. 

The DOH also announced that it successfully removed 19 duplicate cases from the nationwide count. Among the numbers, 7 are recoveries and one is from a fatality report.

“Moreover, 49 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald dela Cruz
