Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Monday said 14 areas under Alert Level 1 were seeing a rise in Covid-19 cases in the past few days.
“Nakakakita na naman tayo nang dahan-dahan na bahagyang pagtaas ng mga kaso sa 14 na mga lugar under Alert Level 1 areas at binibigyan natin [sila] ng paulit-ulit na paalala,” Duque told President Rodrigo Duterte in the latter’s “Talk to the People” address.
The health chief did not enumerate the 14 areas.
Duque said Metro Manila had the most new Covid-19 cases among Philippine regions from April 12 to 18 with 606, followed by Calabarzon with 226 and Central Luzon with 181.
Metro Manila is under Alert Level 1 until April 30.
Experts have warned of a possible surge in cases in the coming weeks due to social gatherings during religious and elections-related activities, which could be Covid-19 “superspreaders.”
According to the Department of Health’s latest bulletin, the country has 19,923 active Covid-19 cases. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
