Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Monday said the Department of Health would go after the doctors who administered unregistered Covid-19 vaccines to members of President Rodrigo Duterte’s security group.

“Tama po kayo,” Duque said in a Laging Handa briefing after he was asked if the Department of Health (DOH) would impose sanctions on involved doctors.

“Makikipag-ugnayan po ang (DOH) sa Professional Regulation Commission para tingnan kung ano po ba ang mga kakalabasan ng investigation, kung sino po ba ang mananagot,” he added.

Duque said the sanctions would be based on findings of the Food and Drug Administration, the “lead agency” in charge of the investigation.

The PSG would submit a list of soldiers who received the unregistered vaccines to monitor “any adverse reactions,” Duque added.

Duterte earlier revealed that some members of his military had been injected with Sinopharm vaccines.

Palace spokesman Harry Roque said the vaccines were “tokens” given to the Presidential Security Group (PSG). Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana however said the vaccines were “smuggled” into the country. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
