The Davao del Norte town of Sto. Tomas is planning to build the first-ever Christmas village for this year’s “Paskong Tomasino: Malipayon ug Malinawon” festivities.

“We have selected Disneyland as the theme of this year’s Christmas village because we want to bring joy and fun especially to our children. Such concept is at the core of our yuletide celebration this year,” Municipal Administrator Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña said.

This first-ever Christmas village will run from December 6 to December 31, 2019 and will also be an added attraction for residents and visitors who want a complete yuletide season experience.

“The Christmas village will be operating from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. so that more people will be able to enjoy and experience the Disneyland-themed Christmas,” she said.

Lapiña said 18 business establishments, schools, and associations, came together tol improve and change the entire area of the Municipal Park into a village full of “Disneyland” decors and ornaments. This is also a sign of the good rapport between the municipal government and the private sector of Sto. Tomas.

“We hope that this endeavor would jumpstart the cooperative agreement between the private sectors in recognition of private initiative that creates conditions to the growth and competitiveness of private business — big, medium and small — all within a framework of transparent and accountable governance,” she added.  (RJ Espartinez)
