The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has issued an order prohibiting the manufacture, sale, and use of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices during the New Year revelry to prevent fires and casualties.
“Ito pong direktibang ito ay ibinigay ni Secretary [Eduardo] Año sa ating mga local government units, sa Philippine National Police, kasama narin po ang Bureau of Fire Protection,” DILG spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said in a press briefing.
Malaya explained that it is in the jurisdiction of authorities to confiscate and destroy these illegal products.
The DILG released the order after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 25 firecracker-related injuries days before the New Year festivities. Ronald Espartinez
