Filipinos abroad who have contracted Covid-19 increased to 18,270.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Tuesday 15 new deaths, 17 new cases, and 26 new recoveries overseas Filipino workers (OFW).
The daily death toll is the second highest recorded for this month. April 13 reported 30 fatalities.
Total recoveries is at 11,220 and death toll is at 1,141.
There are currently 93 countries with Filipinos infected with Covid-19. 5,909 OFWs are being treated abroad in the following regions: 1,086 in the Asia Pacific, 927 in Europe, 3,802 in the Middle East and Africa, and 94 in the Americas.
The Philippines’ total Covid-19 infection is at 1,013,618, with 16,916 deaths, 925,027 recoveries, and 71,675 active cases.
This new coronavirus is believed to have first emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019. The United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil and the Philippines had reported variants of the virus.
The United States, India, Brazil, France, and Russia are the leading countries with the most cases as the data from US-based Johns Hopkins University showed that more than 147.8 million people globally have contracted Covid-19.
