Public school classes for school year 2022 to 2023 could start on Aug. 22 with more face-to-face (F2F) classes, the Department of Education (DepEd) said on Tuesday.

Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio in a virtual presser said should the Aug. 22 start push through, the school calendar would end on July 7, 2023.

He also said the DepEd was optimistic more F2F classes would be held next school year.

“Sa darating na pasukan, blended na po tayo, mas marami rin ‘yung face-to-face, pero hindi tayo papayag na may mga disruptions sa classes,” San Antonio said.

The school calendar is eyed to include a two-week Christmas break from Dec. 19 to Jan. 1, 2023.

End-of-year rites are targeted for July 10 to 14, 2023.

Remedial and summer classes are eyed for July 17 to Aug. 26, 2023, with school year 2023 to 2024 mulled for Aug. 28, 2023.

The ongoing school year 2021-2022 is scheduled to close on June 24. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
