The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday said it had nominated 30 private schools to join the pilot run of limited face-to-face (F2F) classes in the country.

DepEd Director Malcolm Garma said the agency would only select 20 out of the 30 schools to join the pilot.

Of the 30 nominated schools, one is from Region 11 and two are from Region 1. Regions 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 have three nominated schools each.

The DepEd earlier identified 100 public schools to join the pilot of F2F classes, which will start on Nov. 15.

President Rodrigo Duterte in September approved the conduct of limited F2F classes amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

These classes are subject to a safety assessment by the DepEd and the approval of local government units.

Students qualified to participate in the pilot must provide signed consent forms from their parents before being allowed to attend.

Participation of school personnel and learners in the in-person classes will be voluntary. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
