The Department of Budget and Management has released P2 billion to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to assist those in difficult circumstances, including those in crisis situations.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the amount was released to help Filipinos in different situations.

“Maganda ang timing ng karagdagang pondong ito. Gusto nating tulungan ang DSWD para makapagbigay ng tulong at proteksyon sa mga pamilyang nangangailangan,” she said.

The amount will reinforce the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) fund, which provides integrated services such as financial assistance for transportation, medical, burial, food and other support services, to individuals and families in crisis situations.

“Patunay ito na binibigyan prayoridad ng pamahalaan ang pagtulong sa mga vulnerable at disadvantaged sectors. Pangandaman said.

The AICS program has served over 1.5 million clients as of June 30, 2022, according to the DBM. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
