The Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development reported Wednesday 49 new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the region bringing its total caseload to 19,638.
Of these new cases, 34 are from Davao City, 7 are from Davao del Norte, 5 are from Davao de Oro, 2 are from Davao del Sur, and 1 is from Davao Oriental. All cases reported today are local cases.
Davao del Norte reported the highest number of recoveries for the day with 28, Davao del Sur with 24, Davao City with 15, Davao de Oro with 6, Davao Occidental with 3, Davao Oriental with 1. Total recoveries total 77.
Total active cases is now at 1,559 where 70% (1,202) are asymptomatic, 19.6% (305) are mild, 9.2% (143) are severe and 0.6% (9) are critical.
Davao City has the most active cases with 771, Davao de Oro with 257, Davao del Norte with 373, Davao del Sur with 78 and Davao Oriental with 80. Only Davao Occidental has no active cases.
The two reported deaths came from Davao del Sur and Davao Oriental.
Last February 22, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte announced over her radio program that the city will receive an initial 15,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines from the national government through the World Health Organization-led COVAX Facility. She said 7,500 individuals will benefit from the initial supply. However, she does not have any information when the vaccines would arrive.
Other local government units in the region does not have any update if they have purchased their vaccines. – Rommel F. Lopez
