The Davao Regional office of the Department of Health (DOH) reports 382 new Covid-19 cases in the region bringing the region’s total number of active cases to 5,031.
According to the DOH, of these new reported cases, 244 are from Davao City, 52 from Davao del Norte, 50 from Davao de Oro, 27 from Davao del Sur, 8 from Davao Oriental, and 1 from Davao Occidental.
The 14 new Covid deaths reported today were from Davao City (4) Davao de Oro (4), Davao del Norte (3), and Davao Oriental (3).
There are 130 recoveries reported today. Among these, 46 are from Davao del Norte, 42 from Davao City, 15 from Davao Oriental, 13 from Davao de Oro, 8 from Davao del Sur, and 6 from Davao Occidental.
The DOH said the region currently has 35.6% available ICU beds, 46.3% available Isolation beds, 39.8% available ward beds, and 47.2% available Mechanical ventilators.
Meanwhile, the OCTA Research Group said Davao City has the most number of new Covid-19 infections reported in the last week in the entire country.
In its June 8 report, the research group said Davao City reported a 44% increase in new cases on the first week of June, accounting for 213 average daily cases from the 147 in the previous week.
On the other hand, Quezon City recorded an average of 207 new COVID-19 cases or a -27 percent growth rate from the 283 for the same period.
Davao City’s daily attack rate, or the number of new cases per 100,000 population, is now at 11.71 compared to Quezon City’s 6.56 daily attack rate.
The city is under the stricter Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine until June 20, as a circuit breaker due to the sudden surge of new cases overwhelming its Southern Philippines Medical Center and other medical facilities. – Rommel F. Lopez
