The Davao City government has issued an advisory prohibiting the holding of Halloween and Christmas activities and gatherings amid the pandemic.
The advisory posted on Facebook Wednesday stated that, “Government and private offices, restaurants, business establishments, home associations, community organizations, barkadahan, tropa, churches, and all other groups, associations and organizations are prohibited from holding trick-or-treat and other Halloween events this year.”
The same rule applies to Christmas parties and other holiday celebrations as these gatherings may increase the risk of spreading the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), it said.
The post noted that, “cases are still surging and it is feared that more and more deaths will happen if the unnecessary gathering of people is allowed.”
The city government reminded residents to “stay home” and avoid public places and avoid exposure to Covid-19.
It suggested a Christmas celebration with the family at home as “it is the best place to celebrate.”
It also recommended online grocery shopping and food delivery services. (Jojo Mangahis)
