A local safety official encouraged local churches in Davao City to install monitoring cameras that would help monitor and check the safety of the people, especially this December – a few days before the start of the much-awaited Simbang Gabi. 

Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) chief Angel Sumagaysay said the security of Mass goers is very important.  He added that some churches had already installed their own CCTVs.

San Pedro Cathedral will undergo maximum security measures since it is part of the “maximum security zone”.

The “no jacket” and the “no backpack” policies will be strictly observed around San Pedro Square to ensure the safety of the people.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Kirby John Kraft, said their department will start implementing a “One Entry, One Exit” policy as part of their security measures. 

The city has been very strict in implementing security measures after the twin blasts at the Jolo Cathedral in January 27, which killed 22 law enforcers and civilians. Over 100 people were also hurt.  (RJ Espartinez)
