Dagupan City has been placed under total lockdown by Mayor Marc Brian Lim effective March 30 to keep its status of being free from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This status is formalized under an executive order and this would mean stricter rules will be adopted to further secure the city from the virus.

The entire province of Pangasinan has posted a total of 15 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of March 31.

Six cases out of the 15 have resulted in death, with nine others still being treated at hospitals.

34 have recovered out of the reported 49 patients under investigation (PUIs).

The 11 municipalities of Lingayen, Rosales, Asingan, Urdaneta City, Pozorrubio, Malasiqui, Bayambang, Basista, Urbiztondo, Bugallon, and Infanta already have confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Sta. Barbara does not want its provincial facility in Barangay Tebag to be used as an isolation area for persons under investigation (PUIs).

The Provincial Government of Pangasinan plans to transform some government facilities to expand the capacity of its existing 14-government run hospitals for use by those recovering from the COVID-19 symptoms. (Jojo Mangahis)
