Total number of deaths caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the Philippines has crossed the 24,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 108 fatalities on Thursday.

Total Covid deaths now stands at 24,036. 

The Philippines reported 6,043 new Covid-19 infections bringing the country’s total caseload to 1,378,260.

Only one Covid-19 laboratory failed to submit its daily report on time. 

With this, the country has 51,410 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment and quarantine: 90.6% are mild, 4.5% are asymptomatic, 2.0% are severe, and 1.4% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 1,302,814 with 4,486 more patients defeating the deadly virus. 

The DOH also announced that 15 duplicate cases were removed from the nationwide count.

“Moreover, 44 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases, and 61 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
