Most of the Covid fatalities in the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) were unvaccinated.

Dr. Gerardo Aquino, medical director of VSMMC, revealed that most of the hospital’s Covid deaths were those who experienced severe symptoms and had not been inoculated.

Aquino said that based on their records out of the 113 Covid cases admitted at VSMMC, 94 were unvaccinated.

“It is already proven that vaccination is important aside from observing minimum health protocols,” he said. “Everybody is enjoined to get vaccinated.”

However, getting anti-Covid jabs is not a “100%” assurance of getting immunity, especially if exposed to “high viral load” carriers, he explained.

“But the difference is that you either have asymptomatic or mild symptoms compared to those unvaccinated who get moderate to critical symptoms,” Aquino said.

VSMMC, the largest government medical facility in Central Visayas, only has 22% Covid admissions while the rest are non-Covid cases. Ryan Sorote
