The Philippines posted a record-high 58 recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of recoveries to 353, already surpassing the total number of fatalities, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed Wednesday.

The total number of fatalities crawled to 349 with 14 new fatalities, according to the DOH’s daily bulletin.

Meanwhile, after launching the mass testing yesterday, the total number of positive cases in the country jumped to 5,453 with 230 new infections reported in the country.

As per DOH’s Tuesday bulletin, the country’s COVID-19 testing centers have already conducted 38,103 tests.

85.2 percent of these posted negative while 14.7 percent translated into positive cases.

So far, the Philippines remains the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia, shadowed by its neighbor Malaysia with 4,987 cases, 82 deaths, and 2,478 recoveries.  (RJ Espartinez)
