The Philippines’ total number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) recoveries once again surpassed the number of fatalities for the second day in a row after the Department of Health (DOH) announced a new record-high 82 recoveries on Thursday, bringing the total number to 435.

The health department also reported 13 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 362.

As of today, the total number of infections in the country increased to 5,660 with 207 new positive cases, which is lower than the 230 reported cases yesterday.

The Philippines remains on top in Southeast Asia for the most number of COVID-19 cases, trailed by its neighbor Malaysia with 5,182 cases, 2,766 recoveries, and 84 fatalities.

Meanwhile, 16 senators filed a resolution asking DOH Chief Francisco Duque III to resign for his ‘incompetence’ and “poor” handling of the crisis. Duque, on the other hand, dismissed their call.  (RJ Espartinez)
