Recoveries in the Philippines from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) soared to 2,843 after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Tuesday 114 new patients recovering from the dreaded disease .
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases increased to 12,942 with 224 new infections, according to DOH’s daily bulletin.
174 patients or 78 percent of the new COVID-19 cases came from Metro Manila, 17 individuals were from Region VII, while the remaining 33 cases were spread out across the country.
The DOH reported six casualties from the disease bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 837.
Singapore remains 1st in Southeast and 27th in global rankings for the most number of COVID-19 cases at 28,794. Indonesia followed behind in Southeast Asia while placing 33rd globally with 18,496 cases trailed by the Philippines, 3rd in Southeast Asia and 41st globally. (RJ Espartinez)
