The Department of Health (DOH) said that Metro Manila is about to experience a lower number of new daily coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections at 1,100 by mid-November.

“If we will look at our daily cases, we will be averaging about 1,100 cases by Nov. 15, daily cases dito sa National Capital Region,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during a virtual briefing.

The OCTA Research said the nation’s capital region has seen an average of 2,140 cases per day over the last seven days, lower than the previous 3,627 report from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.

Vergeire also added that the whole NCR has observed a negative two-week growth rate.

Meanwhile, active cases in Metro Manila stand at 24,400 as of Friday, according to the DOH.

If the capital continues to maintain the downward trend and control the spread of the Covid-19 infection, Metro Manila residents may experience a more relaxed quarantine protocol by Christmas, the health department’s official added.

The DOH is also coordinating with the pandemic task force to extend the implementation of the Covid0-19 alert level system outside Metro Manila. Ronald Espartinez
