The allocation framework for the first tranche of Pfizer-BioNTech will prioritize hospitals dedicated for Covid-19 treatment, Malacañang said on Friday.

Pfizer vaccines were the first to be approved for emergency use in the Philippines.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. earlier said officials were “negotiating for more or less 40 million doses” from the American firm.

Covid-19 referral hospitals are second in the allocation framework.

Hospitals owned by the Department of Health and operated by local government units are third and fourth, respectively.

Fifth in the distribution structure are hospitals for uniformed personnel.

Private hospitals are last.

Food and Drug Administration Chief Eric Domingo earlier said that Pfizer vaccines were 95-percent effective based on interim data of Phase 3 clinical trials, while the efficacy rate for all racial groups was found at 92 percent. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
