The Department of Health (DOH) reported 4,284 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the country bringing the total caseload to 217,396 as of Sunday, August 30.
Most of the new cases came from Metro Manila (2,207), Laguna (327), Cavite (191), Batangas (161) and Rizal (147).
Total active cases stand at 56,473.
Total Covid-19-related deaths is now at 3,520 after 102 new deaths were added to the tally.
Of the newly-reported fatalities, 3 died in June and April, 21 in July and 78 in August. Bulk of these deaths came from Metro Manila at 52.
The new cases came from submissions of 100 out of 110 Covid-testing laboratories across the country. The Health Department added that it had removed 19 duplicates from the case tally.
The DOH said about 2.39 million people in the country have so far been tested for Covid-19.
The Philippines still has the most number of total cases in Southeast Asia. Indonesia is second with 172,053 and Singapore with 56,771. Jessica Ivy A. Zapata
