Three new positive cases for the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) have been recorded in Western Visayas, bringing the total cases to 16 as of March 29, according to the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6.

These new cases came from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental and Iloilo province, according to the data from DOH-Region 6.

Earlier, the whole region recorded new cases: three cases each from Bacolod City and Iloilo province, two cases came from Iloilo City, and one from Capiz.

Here’s the list of the new confirmed cases for COVID-19:

*Patient 14, a 28-year-old male from Bacolod City with a travel history to the United States.

*Patient 15, a 41-year-old female from Negros Occidental with a history of travel to Manila and Davao City.

*Patient 16, a 70-year-old male from Iloilo province with no history of travel to areas with COVID-19 cases and with no known exposure 

* Patient 5 is an 81-year-old male from Aklan with a history of travel to Manila

* Patient 6 is a 75-year-old male from Bacolod City with a history of travel to Manila

* Patient 7, a 40-year-old male from Bacolod City with history of travel to Manila

* Patient 8, a 68-year-old male from Aklan with a history of travel to Manila

* Patient 9 is a 28-year-old male from Bacolod City (son of Patient No. 1 who is the region’s first confirmed COVID-19 case)

* Patient 10 is a 59-year-old female from Iloilo province with no history of travel to areas with COVID-19 cases and with no known exposure to a COVID-19-positive case

* Patient 11 is a 72-year-old male from Iloilo City with a history of travel to Manila; had fever and cough; died on March 19; also with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and classified as high risk for Community-Acquired Pneumonia

* Patient 12, a 22-year-old female from Iloilo province with a history of travel to Manila

* Patient 13, a 37-year-old male from Aklan; travel and exposure history still being verified

Currently, the total cases of the COVID-19 in the Philippines spiked to 1,418 with 71 fatalities and 42 recoveries.  (RJ Espartinez)
