Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines rose to 12,305 with 214 new infections, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Saturday.

147 patients or 69 percent of the new cases came from the National Capital Region while 67 cases or 31 percent came from other areas in the country.

Meanwhile, the country’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 817 after 11 more fatalities were confirmed by the DOH’s daily bulletin. 

In a bit of good news, recoveries jumped to 2,561 with 101 new recoveries reported. 

Singapore ranks  first in Southeast Asia and 27th in the world for the most number of COVID-19 cases at 27,356. Indonesia placed second in the region and 33rd in the world, with 17,025 cases followed by the Philippines which is 3rd in Southeast Asia and 41st globally.  (RJ Espartinez)
