Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines jumped to 6,981, after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Thursday 271 new cases, which is higher compared to previous days.
Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries crawled to 772 with 29 new patients who successfully recovered from the infection.
The Health Department’s daily bulletin also posted low deaths at 16, bringing the total of fatalities from COVID-19 to 462.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire shared that over 61,000 Filipinos had been successfully tested for COVID-19 as of Tuesday. 87.1 percent tested negative while 12.8 percent posted positive.
Singapore surpassed the 10,000-mark and remains on top in Southeast Asia for the most number of COVID-19 cases at 11,178. Indonesia followed behind with 7,775 COVID-19 cases trailed by the Philippines. (RJ Espartinez)
