Kabacan, North Cotabato – Unidentified motorcycle riding gunmen killed a Barangay Chairman in Sitio Dima, Barangay Lower Paatan, Kabacan North Cotabato Saturday morning.
Kabacan Police identified the victim as Ben Candangan, 43 years old, married, and the current Barangay Chairman of Lower Paatan in this town.
The victim was on his way to his rice field while riding his motorcycle when riding in tandem suspects open fired on him. Candangan suffered multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of his body and died on the spot.
Police have yet to determine the identities of the suspects and the motive behind the killing.
Local officials of Kabacan condemned the killing of Candangan who is the third barangay captain in Kabacan who was murdered while in office since 2016. (Rommel F. Lopez)
