The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is targeting a Jan. 15 release for the final list of candidates in the 2022 elections.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez announced this on Wednesday in a press briefing.

“Ang estimate natin, matatapos ang final ballot faces by Jan. 15 which means ‘yun na ang final list of candidates,” he said.

Jimenez added that the Comelec could start printing ballots two days after, on Jan. 17.

The latest list of the poll body has 10 presidentiables, nine vice presidentiables and 64 senatorial bets.

More than 65.5 million voters are expected to participate in the 2022 national and local elections, the Comelec earlier said.

The elections will be held on May 9, 2022. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
