The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has approved the resumption of voter registration in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), James Jimenez, spokesman of the poll body, announced on Wednesday.

According to Jimenez, registration will be allowed in MECQ areas from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Sept. 6.

The following places are under MECQ until Sept. 7:

Luzon

Apayao
Ilocos Norte
Bulacan
Bataan
Cavite
Lucena City
Rizal
Laguna

Visayas

Aklan
Iloilo Province
Iloilo City
Lapu-Lapu City
Cebu City
Mandaue City

Mindanao

Cagayan de Oro City

Previously, only first-time voters in general community quarantine areas were allowed to register.

Voter registration will end on Sept. 30. The Comelec has consistently brushed off calls for the extension of voter registration.
