The City of Manila launched its second drive-thru coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) testing center that can accommodate 700 tests a day at the Quirino Grandstand.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso explained that the testing center will be operational from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. The test is also for free whether they are residents or non-residents of the city.

The city’s first drive-thru Covid-19 testing center was launched on July 15 in front of the Andres Bonifacio Monument in Ermita.

The drive-thru testing center will gather blood samples, which will be sent and processed by three serology testing machines.

More can be tested once the City of Manila acquires more serology testing machines, Moreno mentioned.

“Kapag may additional na makina kami on top of the three existing (serology machines), dadagdagan namin ‘yung volume ng testing,” Moreno said.

The three serology testing machines are located at Gat. Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Sampaloc, and Ospital ng Maynila, the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said.

Another serology testing machine is expected to be given to the Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital in the coming days.  (RJ Espartinez)
