Malacañang on Monday announced that 25 million doses of China’s Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines would be delivered to the country by December this year.
Sinovac was found 78-percent effective in Brazil-based clinical trials and 91.25-percent effective by Turkey.
Citing results of the Turkish clinical trials, Palace spokesman Harry Roque said the vaccine brought no major side effects.
Roque said the vaccines would be delivered by batch monthly.
“By February, at least 65,000 na ang mabibigyan ng bakuna. Sa susunod na buwan po ng Marso, magkakaroon tayo ng 950,000 na additional doses ng nasabing Sinovac; at sa Abril, one million dose; sa Mayo, one million dose; sa June, two million – hanggang mabuo ang 25 million pagdating ng Disyembre,” he said in a Palace briefing.
Sinovac has yet to secure an emergency use authorization (EUA) in the Philippines.
“We will wait for the EUA before we administer. But we can do what Indonesia did – accept delivery and wait for the approval of regulatory authorities,” Roque said.
