Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Gov. Benjamin Diokno is the highest paid government official, according to the Commission on Audit’s (COA’s) latest report on salaries and allowances released on Wednesday, May 12.

Diokno rose from third place last year, with his income jumping to P19.79 million in 2020 from P15.45 million in 2019.

United Coconut Planters Bank President and CEO Higinio Macadaeg Jr. dropped to ninth place, earning P13.22 million in 2020.

Solicitor General Jose Calida remains the second highest paid government official, but his income dropped from P16.95 million in 2019 to P15.65 million in 2020.

Three other BSP officials were in the top 10 list: Deputy Gov. Maria Tuaño-Amador (P15.14 million), Deputy Gov. Chuchi Fonacier (P14.34 million), and Senior Asst. Gov. Dahlia Luna (P12.63 million). Isabell Andrea Pine
