The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases has designated Cabinet officials to oversee the Covid-19 response of local government units (LGUs) with high coronavirus transmissions.

In Resolution No. 62 released on Wednesday, the task force said the move would help operationalize “the national government-enabled, local government-led and people-centered” Covid-19 response strategy of the country.

The designated officials were tasked to support LGUs in monitoring health system performance, critical care capacity and stringent compliance with surveillance, isolation and treatment protocols.

The assignments are as follows:

Metro Manila

  • Quezon City – Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles
  • Pasig City – Education Secretary Leonor Briones and Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat
  • Pateros – Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Danilo Lim
  • Marikina – Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III and Commission on Higher Education Chairman Prospero de Vera III
  • Taguig – Interior Secretary Eduardo Año and Bases Conversion Development Authority CEO Vince Dizon
  • Manila – Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gregorio Honasan II and Anti-Red Tape Authority Director-General Jeremiah Belgica
  • Mandaluyong – Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez
  • Makati – National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr
  • San Juan – Acting Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Chua
  • Muntinlupa – Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade
  • Parañaque – Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Carlito Galvez Jr
  • Las Piñas – Public Works Secretary Mark Villar
  • Pasay – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque
  • Caloocan – Agriculture Secretary William Dar

The areas assigned to Cabinet members have been under modified enhanced community quarantine since Aug. 2.

New quarantine classifications are expected to be announced this week.
