Bulacan has been recognized as 2018 Outstanding Province in Nutrition in Central Luzon by the Regional Nutrition Committee of Central Luzon during the 2019 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Aside from the province, three municipalities were cited for maintaining the standards of their nutrition program under the new MELLPI Pro with ratings of “very satisfactory” for San Rafael and Baliwag and “satisfactory” for Doña Remedios Trinidad.

The same municipalities were recognized for their Quality Nutrition Programs.

As for barangays, awarded for Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committees were Lias, Poblacion I and Santa Rosa in Marilao, Dagat-dagatan in San Rafael, and San Jose and Santa Cruz in Paombong.

Bulacan also garnered other awards such as that for Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, City and District Nutrition Program Coordinators and Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar.

Provincial Nutrition Committee Chair and Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando received the award and recognition for the province, including those for other Bulacan municipalities and barangays.

Fernando stressed in his acceptance speech that Bulacan has a solid history in the planning and implementation of nutrition programs which particularly benefit the youth and the children.(Jojo Mangahis)
