The province of Bulacan will use the newly built extension building of the Bulacan Medical Center (BMC) as a centralized quarantine facility.

Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado recently bared the plan to use the 5,800-square meter, three-storey BMC extension that can accommodate 250 patients as a quarantine facility.

Fernando pushed for a centralized quarantine center to avoid the possibility of infecting more residents.

The quarantine center will start to accept PUIs as soon as the medical supplies and equipment arrive, said Dr. Protacio Bajao, hospital chief of BMC.

Meanwhile, BMC accepted 22 complete sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) from the Bulacan Provincial Police Office last Saturday.

Other medical supplies donated were thousands of hand gloves, hundreds of face shields and face masks as well as two aerosol boxes.

According to the Bulacan Provincial Health Office, the entire province’s number of positive COVID-19 patients is at 39 cases in yesterday’s count from last Sunday’s low of only 18 cases. (Jojo Mangahis)
