Korean supergroup BTS swept three major awards at the 2019 American Music Awards (AMAs), including Favorite Duo/Group for Pop/Rock category. The piece of news was enough to spark social media jubilation in the ARMY, the BTS fanbase.

Winning against The Jonas Brothers and Pan!c at the Disco, the septet is the first Asian act to take home the coveted Favorite Duo/Group – Pop/Rock at the AMAs. They are also the first non-English speaking act to do so. BTS did not make an appearance at the show, as the members have just finished their annual fan meeting event in Japan. But the boys sent heartfelt messages of gratitude to ARMYs.

“BTS has been a group for six and a half years, and throughout those years, we had so many of our dreams somehow manifest into reality,” leader RM (Kim Namjoon) said in their pre-recorded acceptance speech.

“ARMY, you guys are the ones who make all of this possible, and we really couldn’t have done it without your love and support from all over the world. We’ll try our best to live up to it to strive high, work hard, and return your love back to you.”

Their major stadium world tour, “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” was also awarded the “Top Tour of the Year.”

Vocalist Jungkook (Jeon Jungkook) thanked fans, his fellow BTS members and the staff. RM said that although the tour was over, they hope that their message of self-love will remain significant.

ARMYs were on cloud nine when the group took home the “Favorite Social Artist” trophy, which they have won for two consecutive years. Fans celebrated on Twitter using the hashtag #AmericasBestGroupBTS, congratulating the boys for the well-deserved wins.
