Winning against The Jonas Brothers and Pan!c at the Disco, the septet is the first Asian act to take home the coveted Favorite Duo/Group – Pop/Rock at the AMAs. They are also the first non-English speaking act to do so. BTS did not make an appearance at the show, as the members have just finished their annual fan meeting event in Japan. But the boys sent heartfelt messages of gratitude to ARMYs.
“BTS has been a group for six and a half years, and throughout those years, we had so many of our dreams somehow manifest into reality,” leader RM (Kim Namjoon) said in their pre-recorded acceptance speech.
“ARMY, you guys are the ones who make all of this possible, and we really couldn’t have done it without your love and support from all over the world. We’ll try our best to live up to it to strive high, work hard, and return your love back to you.”

Their major stadium world tour, “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” was also awarded the “Top Tour of the Year.”
Vocalist Jungkook (Jeon Jungkook) thanked fans, his fellow BTS members and the staff. RM said that although the tour was over, they hope that their message of self-love will remain significant.

[FACTS] @BTS_twt becomes the only Asian Artist with the most awards won (4) at the #AMAs of all time !! ????#AmericasBestGroupBTS #BTS pic.twitter.com/NStvmuIKNb — BTS News Facts (@btsnewsfact) November 25, 2019
I’m so proud of #AmericasBestGroupBTS. They’ve won so many awards over the years, but the disturbing recent trend by Western shows of shutting them out/marginalizing them makes these 3 wins especially sweet.
Proud to be an ARMY now and forever! Congratulations @BTS_twt!!

This is what happens when a legit award show counts actual votes. Thanks #AMAs & congratulations to @BTS_twt and ARMY for taking home three awards tonight & to the other winners, esp. Halsey. #AmericasBestGroupBTS — Kookie Crumbles ???? (@Crumbles4Kookie) November 25, 2019
.@BTS_twt won 3 awards at one of the 3 largest music award shows in the US, even without attending????. It’s so crazy to think that this is even possible when 2 yrs ago, US ARMY had to beg radio stations to play their songs. Baby steps + organic, steady growth!#AmericasBestGroupBTS pic.twitter.com/6QEkO5hzVW
