Korean pop group, BTS, has been appointed by South Korean President Moon Jae-in as “Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture.”
The announcement is in line with Moon’s “global agenda for future generations, including sustainable growth,” according to the Office of the President’s Twitter account.
Band members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are assigned to attend major international conferences, including the 75th UN General Assembly set in September.
The group’s objective is to give messages of comfort and hope to young people around the world and join numerous activities to “promote international cooperation to solve global issues such as environment, poverty, inequality improvement, and respect for diversity.”
BTS first delivered a speech at the UN in 2018 and 2020.
The global phenomenal male group is also part of the ongoing campaign “Love Myself” with UNICEF, which plans to end “violence toward children and teens around the world, with the hope of making the world a better place through music.”
