
The Philippines on Wednesday received Brunei’s donation of 2,000 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine doses.
Brunei has administered more than 560,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses, while the Philippines has administered more than 24 million.
As of Oct. 20, a total of 91,548,620 Covid-19 vaccine doses from various manufacturers have arrived in the Philippines.
Duterte thanks US, Japan
President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday thanked Japan and the US for donating Covid-19 vaccines to the Philippines.
The US has given the Philippines about 18 million Covid-19 vaccine doses, while Japan has donated 1.12 million, with 1.96 million expected to arrive soon.
“We thank the Japanese government for their donation of close to 2 million doses of life-saving vaccines. Indeed, Japan is a friend closer than a brother ready to help in times of need,” the president said in his regular “Talk to the People” address.
“Our thanks go also to the United States for providing more than two million doses of Covid-19 vaccines delivered through the facility called Covax,” he added.
The Philippines has received seven batches of donated vaccines from the US. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
