Duterte thanks US, Japan

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday thanked Japan and the US for donating Covid-19 vaccines to the Philippines.

The US has given the Philippines about 18 million Covid-19 vaccine doses, while Japan has donated 1.12 million, with 1.96 million expected to arrive soon.

“We thank the Japanese government for their donation of close to 2 million doses of life-saving vaccines. Indeed, Japan is a friend closer than a brother ready to help in times of need,” the president said in his regular “Talk to the People” address.

“Our thanks go also to the United States for providing more than two million doses of Covid-19 vaccines delivered through the facility called Covax,” he added.

The Philippines has received seven batches of donated vaccines from the US. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
