The Philippine Embassy in Brunei has coordinated with government officials in a search for 11 crewmen aboard Brunei-flagged fishing vessel Radims 2 that went missing on Wednesday, August 7.

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said seven of the 11 crewmen were Filipinos.

Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Christopher Montero said they had coordinated with national government officials involved in the joint search and rescue operations with Malaysia.

The last radio contact between the Radims 2 owner and its captain was last Wednesday. Brunei’s National Search and Rescue Coordination Committee later sought assistance from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency in locating the missing crew members.

The DFA did not release the identities of the missing crew members. (Melo M. Acuña)
