Sen. Christopher “Lawrence” Bong Go will run for the vice presidency in the 2022 elections.

Go will run under the ruling party, PDP-Laban, which had endorsed him as its standard-bearer and President Rodrigo Duterte as its vice president.

Go’s surprise move came after Duterte announced his retirement from politics.

Duterte accompanied Go, his aide of 23 years, in filing a certificate for candidacy for vice president on Saturday at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City.

In a speech after filing his candidacy, Go said he would continue the Duterte administration’s fight against corruption, drugs and crime.

He also vowed that he would not be a mere spare tire should he win the vice presidential seat.

Aside from Go, three others have filed their candidacies for vice president, namely: former Manila mayor Jose “Lito” Atienza Jr., Rochelle David and Alexander Lague.
