Tagbilaran City in Bohol province has five new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post, Mayor John Geesnell Yap II of Tagbilaran City said the five new cases were confirmed via a polymerase chain reaction test which involved two locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and one overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who are still in the quarantine area of the city.

Yap added that all are asymptomatic.

The two new patients were also part of the returnee arrivals last August 19.

The first is a 29-year-old female from Barangay Booy who arrived from Cebu City and a 27-year-old female from Barangay Taloto who arrived from Cagayan de Oro City. The 43-year-old male OFW, a resident of Barangay Booy, arrived last Aug. 19 from Cebu.

Yap said the local transmission cases involved a 52-year-old female from Barangay Booy, who has a sore throat and fever and is quarantined at home, and a 40-year-old male who works at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Tagbilaran is asymptomatic.

As of September 1,  Bohol has a total of 216 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Total recoveries is now up to 107.  Death toll is now at 8.   Rommel F. Lopez
