Immigration authorities have deported 75 Chinese who were engaged in illegal online gaming operations in the country.
Commissioner Jaime Morente of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported that the Chinese left Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Aug. 12, 2020 en route to Zhengzhou, China using a chartered plane.
The Chinese embassy facilitated the exit of the Chinese, whose deportation was postponed due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, Morente said.
The deportees, who have been detained since they were captured in December 2019, will be prosecuted in China on charges of cybercrime and investment fraud.
The 75 were among the more than 300 Chinese who were nabbed at a building along on North EDSA in Bago Bantay, Quezon City by Quezon City Police and the BI Intelligence Division.
They were undocumented aliens due to the cancellation of their passports, and have beenincluded in the immigration blacklist. Jojo Mangahis
