American pop singers Beyoncé and Taylor Swift made history as they broke several records at the 2021 Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, California.

Beyoncé snatched nine nominations, the most of any artist for the night, and four awards including best R&B performance for “Black Parade,” best music video for “Brown Skin Girl,” as well as best rap performance and best rap song for “Savage,” with Megan Thee Stallion.

The “Single Ladies” singer now holds 28 Grammy Awards under her belt, making her the most-awarded female artist and beating Alison Krauss, who previously held a record 27 wins.

The American pop singer is now tied with music legend Quincy Jones for second-most Grammy wins, behind the late Hungarian-British conductor Georg Solti’s 31 Grammy Awards.

Taylor Swift also broke the record for taking home one of the Grammy’s highest honors for the third time as her hit alternative album “Folklore” bagged the Album of the Year Award.

The “Lover” singer became the fourth artist and first female performer to win Album of the Year thrice. She previously won Album of the Year for “Fearless” in 2010 and “1989” in 2016.

“Folklore” won against Coldplay’s “Everyday Life, Black Pumas’s self-titled album, Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia,” Haim’s “Women in Music Pt. III,” Jacob Collier’s “Djesse Vol. 3,” Jhené Aiko’s “Chilombo” and Post Malone’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding.”

She now joins Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon, who all won three Album of the Year awards. Frank Sinatra was the first artist to achieve that record.

Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Billie Eillish also won big at the 2021 Grammys. Jade Veronique V. Yap
