The OCTA Research Team on Thursday said the Philippines could celebrate a “better” Christmas this year, its third amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
OCTA Research fellow Dr. Butch Ong said in a “Laging Handa” briefing that the country could see a better celebration of the holiday due to its high vaccination rate.
“Our current variant causes mostly asymptomatic and mild disease, at ang ating mamamayan ay more attuned na sa preventive measures and the culture of safety, so maaaring mas maganda ang ating kapaskuhan ngayong taon,” he said.
Filipinos celebrated Christmas under tight lockdowns in 2020, which were more loose come Christmas 2021.
As of Sept. 7, nearly 72.7 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
The has more than 24,000 active Covid-19 cases as of Sept. 8.
