Former Philippine National Police chief and presidential ally Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa was already released from the hospital on Friday after contracting the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Bato, 58, shared that he got home “just this morning” after fighting the deadly respiratory illness since November 23.

His staff mentioned on Thursday that he was sent to the hospital so that health professionals could monitor his fever, cough, and colds. His staff also said that his condition was already “improving.”

However, Dela Rosa did not get a new swab test to see if the senator is already free from the virus.

His daughter, driver, and house helper also tested positive for Covid-19 last month.

Dela Rosa was the 5th senator to contract the Covid-19 infection along with Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senators Sonny Angara, Koko Pimentel, and Bong Revilla. All of them survived the virus. RJ Espartinez
