The Bangsamoro local government has temporarily suspended its Friday prayers and all congregational prayers in the region to join the fight in alleviating the increasing numbers of the infectious coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) disease.

Sheikh Abuhuraira Abulrahman Udasan, the Bangsamoro mufti, said the suspension started Thursday, March 19 and will last until April 10, 2020.

The ban applies to all mosques in the region including small mosques found in barangays.

The Bangsamoro Darul Ifta – the Islamic advisory council with jurisdiction over the region – met on Thursday and decided to suspend these prayers to curb the spread of the disease. (RJ Espartinez)
