Sen. Grace Poe on Friday welcome the Department of Transportation’s decision to lift a ban on hatchback cars in transport network vehicle service (TNVS) operations.
“At the Senate, we have refiled the bill that would put in place a law governing TNVS operations, and will continue to push for its passage,” Poe, head of the Senate public services panel, said in a statement.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade on Friday amended a department order on TNVS to allow hatchbacks as a mode of transport, after a meeting with other transport officials.
Transportation Assistant Secretary for Communications Goddes Hope Libiran clarified that all hatchbacks were allowed to become public transport units, not just those included in a master list drawn up by transport network companies such as Grab and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
