Baguio City tourist arrivals still fell below target despite eased restrictions, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said July 13 (Tuesday).

Magalong said 12,030 tourists arrived in June, below the city’s target of 3,000 tourists daily.

“During weekdays, umaabot lang kami ng 500 to 700 [daily tourist arrivals], 700 meaning pagdating na ng Thursday [at] Friday. Pagdating na ng weekend, gabi ng Friday hanggang Saturday, umaakyat lang ng 1,500, so mababa pa rin ‘yung dating ng turista samin,” Magalong said during the Laging Handa government briefing.

(During weekdays, we are only reaching 500 to 700 [daily tourist arrivals], 700 meaning it sits on Thursday and Friday. On weekends, from Friday night to Saturday, it climbs to 1,500, so the tourist arrival is still low.)

Baguio City welcomed tourists in the first week of June. The city is heavily dependent on tourism, Magalong said. Hazel Camba
