Baguio City will expand its travel bubble to accommodate tourists from Luzon starting Oct. 22.

The city’s public information office (PIO) made the announcement on Saturday.

“Mayor (Benjamin) Magalong has just announced that Baguio City’s ‘Ridge and Reef’ program will now be expanded to cater to the entire Luzon starting Oct 22,” it said.

The “Ridge and Reef” travel bubble program was launched last September but only to accommodate visitors from the Ilocos Region.

While the bubble was expanded, the tourist limit of 200 people accommodated per day will remain, the Baguio PIO said.

Tourists are required to stay in accommodation establishments accredited by the Department of Tourism.

“The tourism program coverage expansion was recommended by the Baguio Tourism Council and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio and concurred with by city health officials subject to observance of health and safety protocols against Covid-19,” it added.

Baguio has recorded 1,575 Covid-19 cases as of Oct. 16. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
